Work Samples

This worksheet on your left is a three day workout worksheet that I created for my Juniors and Senoirs at University High School in Normal IL. Day 1- they were to complete an exercise and color in the muscle gorup(s) that were being used with the correct color for each exercise. Day 2- pedomemter activity, check to see the difference in step counts between envents. Day 3- List of Day 1 exercises and Day 3 exercises and be able to list which ones were using the same muscles.

3-Day Workout Sheet
October 2013

Attached here is an example of an assessment I have used to check for student learning of a sport at the middle school level. There are assessment for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to show progression. This is different from a typical "Volleyball Test" and you will see. I challenge my students to higher order of cognition and be able to support their answers with evidence from past exeriences.

Throughout my student teaching experiences I have reflected on my corresponding teachers’ and university advisor's evaluations to further develop my teaching skills. Their positive and constructive feedback has given me incite to what it takes to be an effective teacher in today’s field. Attached are my corresponding teachers' feedback and my university supervisor evaluations on my lesson plans and teaches.

The EdTPA is the new evaluation system set in place for student teachers and will be high stakes starting next fall. At ISU we are to complete this EdTPA and submit it to Pearson to get evaluated to make sure that our program is creating quality teachers. I completed this EdTPA with a 6th grade class at Congress Park Elementary during the first nine lessons of the football unit. I made sure that all my lessons and objectives were progressive and had a quality means of assessment. I was video taped and had to reflect on how I planned, taught, and assessed students of different ability levels.  Attached here are my lesson plans that show how I created lessons that allow every student an opportunity to succeed and learn in a positive environment.

Continuous Relay
October 2014
Non-particpating Day

November 2014

“Continuous Relay” is a lesson that I have taught to middle schooler at my student teaching placement and also clinical experience. As you can see through this 30 second clip the students are very active and before the lesson begins we discuss about how this is a form of interval training. The students were wearing Polar Heart Rate Monitors and were to get 20 minutes in their target heart rate zone. Music was also being played to increase student motivation. This lesson can be modified for a manipulative skills like dribbling a basketball down and back and on the sidelines passing with a partner.

At my student teaching placement at Highlands we had daily assignments for students who were missing class but I wanted to create multiple day assignments for students who were out for extended time. I created a project where student were challenged to assess a workout video and apply the FITT principles to it. They have to map out each exercise during the video, read articles on the FITT principle, and answer higher level questions where they have to support their answers with evidence from the video and articles. All of this is designed so students are learning valuable information about how to continue to progress as a lifelong mover. To view the entire assignment click on the link below.

Deck of Cards Spin Game
December 2014

The Deck of Cards Spin Game is created to enhance a student's knowledge of RPE through interval training using a deck of cards. In the beginning of the lesson I talk about what RPE is and how it can be used as a powerful tool to make sure their working out effectively. The game is played by picking a card (Ace-6) is multipled by 10 which means how many seconds they must pedal for. Then the suit is related to a certain RPE. So if it was a 6 of clubs it would be 60 seconds at 2-3 RPE. I talk about the benefits of each level on the RPE scale. I am also performing this workout so that the students can get an understanding of how intense each level is.

SIOP Posters

I created these SIOP posters for ELL Students for all 14 units in our two year rotating curriculum at Gemini in 2016.

Here is the Pickleball Poster
